Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Stonewall Democratic Club advocates for and encourages diversity, social equity, and inclusion. Stonewall recognizes that to continually achieve equality for all and to advance progressive and feminist values, we must build on, derive strength from, and advocate for diversity, social equity, inclusion, and racial justice and those candidates, policies, and initiatives that promote it.

The Stonewall Democratic Club encourages and fosters a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment along with its allies and community partners. Stonewall strives to partner with community stakeholders, elected officials, and other organizations to advance and promote diversity, social equity, inclusion, and racial justice.

Before we can understand the advantages of embracing diversity, we must first comprehend that diversity is multifaceted and includes individuals of all races, ages, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, veteran statuses, abilities, and more. We also must understand that equity can, among many other things, address the pay inequities in the workplace and the allocation of resources. Last, but definitely not least, inclusion ensures access for individuals with additional barriers and improves access for all.

Stonewall embraces social equity, which is the active commitment to fairness, justice, and equality in the formulation of public policy, distribution of public services, implementation of public policy, and management of all institutions serving the public. We strongly support and advocate for the inclusion of the transgender and gender non-conforming communities. Stonewall acknowledges that intersectionality continues to impact the BILAPOC - Black, Indigenous, Latine, Asian, and People of Color (BILAPOC) community, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people with disabilities, and needs to address discrimination while upholding dignity for everyone. We welcome members of all abilities and from all backgrounds and encourage connections within our diverse membership.

We recognize that being inclusive is a dynamic process, and we will review this statement on a regular basis to ensure it continues to reflect in words the spirit of what is intended--that we stand for inclusion, dignity, and equity for all.
